While some downtown attractions remain temporarily closed to visitors, including the Reginald F. Lewis Museum and Port Discovery Children’s Museum (opening in early August), other fun destinations have put new safety protocols in place and reopened to the public. We’re at our best when we all work together. Since its late March launch, Heart of the Park, a partnership between Harbor Park Garage and several local organizations and businesses, has distributed about 13,000 meals to Baltimoreans in need and to those on the front lines, serving the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative includes daily meal distribution at the downtown Baltimore garage, where visitors can head to the third floor to pick up free boxed lunches and dinners, and packages of rolls or loaves of bread. “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” The famous Mr. Rogers’ quote, sharing the advice his mother gave him about how to handle scary things he saw in the news, feels more relevant than ever right now, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some facts you should know: 1) This is not a charity. We jumped into action when we realized the magnitude of need. 2) The money goes directly to pay restaurant workers and buy the necessary supplies. 3) Chef Longo can get some ingredients donatedRead More →
