Going Wild Weekend

Go Wild at Port Discovery! If your little ones are curious about wildlife, nature, and the great outdoors, Going Wild Weekend events on Saturday, March 25 & Sunday, March 26 are sure to make their eyes sparkle with curiosity and joy! Wildlife Adventures will be on hand all weekend long providing programs all about wildlife! Interact with live animals, learn about wildlife with fun programs like Living WILD, Wild Tales and UnWrap, UnRoll and UnWind, and enjoy animal-themed art projects where you can create Fire Breathing Dragons and Going Wild Masks! Plus, take part in interactive plays and theater performances.

Exercise your mind and body at Port Discovery’s Healthy First Saturday event! Learn about health and wellness with the UMBC Health Fair. Join The Johns Hopkins University Asthma Study for hands-on activities related to asthma. Take part in yoga for kids, get Kinderfit! with the Kindersinger, and enjoy fun family art projects. You can also visit with service dogs from FIDOS for Freedom!


Glow Days Celebrating Light City

Join Port Discovery to celebrate Glow Days during light city! Make glow-in-the-dark art, create bracelets that change color in UV light, and make a holographic projector that will have you seeing in 3D! Also take part in Eric Energy’s famous, interactive energy show “Spark Attack!”. From experiments with circuits, sound waves and different kinds of light to a real laser show, you’ll be glowing with fun and learning about light!

Join Port Discovery for the annual Play It Forward Gala featuring fabulous food and fun activities with all of the bells and whistles. Honoring Dr. Jay Perman, President of the University of Maryland, Baltimore with the Great Friends to Kid Award, Play It Forward will include fun and creative entertainment and activities for attendees.

Learn and play during Spring Break with Port Discovery’s STEM in Spring activities, featuring programs centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)! Enjoy new activities every day of spring break, including Eric Energy’s “Spark Attack” show, interactive plays, a Virobot workshop, Wildlife Adventures, pop-up “E-lite-tricity” activities, and more. We’ll also have special workshops including “Journey Inside a Cell” where children will enter a life-sized cell to learn about their important roles and components, plus much more!

Hop Into Spring – An Exclusive Evening Adventure

Join in a mini egg hunt for a small prize, pet and learn about live bunnies, enjoy music, dancing, face painting, and more. Plus, make seed pots and birdhouses or bird feeders for your backyard, just in time for spring! All activities plus pizza, drinks and an ice cream sundae bar are included in the price of admission, which is $18 for members and $20 for non-members. Advanced reservations required. Countdown to Kindergarten

Join Port Discovery for a full day of fun and learning designed to help prepare parents and caregivers to successfully prepare emerging kindergartners for school! Countdown to Kindergarten features activities and programs focused on school readiness from Port Discovery and other family and educational organizations. Activities include interactive play sand performances, pop-up science projects, art projects, a live petting zoo from Wildlife Adventures, and music and dancing with both the Kindersinger and Mr. Norman. This program is also open to children who are not entering kindergarten.

On this STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focused exhibit, children can climb aboard Thomas’ cab, fix wobbly wheels, pull levers, dress as a train conductor and more. Don’t miss the huge train table where you can build train tracks and play with friends new and old. This hands-on exhibit helps children’s imaginations grow!
