Grab your scarves and your sense of balance, Baltimore—it’s time to lace up those skates (or wobble bravely in rental ones) because Winter on the Waterfront is officially kicking off!
On Friday, November 7 at 3 p.m., Mayor Brandon Scott will join the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore to cut the metaphorical ribbon on the Inner Harbor Ice Rink—a glistening patch of frozen joy perched atop the Inner Harbor Amphitheater at 201 E. Pratt St.
Opening Night
The opening party is pure holiday movie material, including live music by electric cellist Eyeglasses, dazzling performances from pro youth skaters, and hot cocoa and treats to sip during breaks from the ice.
And if you’re among the first 50 skaters, you get to hit the ice for free—one of the best wintertime deals in town that.
The Rest of the Season
The rink, which is supported by donations from local organizations including the Pearlstone Family Fund and the Joseph & Harvey Myerhoff Charitable Funds, stays open through January 24, with special events sprinkled throughout the season.
Mark your calendars for:
Nov 25 – The Grinch Steals Christmas: Come for the skating, stay for the chaos.
Every Thursday – Date Skate: Because nothing says romance like holding hands while both of you try not to wipe out.
Jan 8 – Latin Heritage Night: Expect the rink to get caliente—even in 30-degree weather.
Throughout the season, the rink is open:
Monday-Thursday: 12 p.m.-10 p.m.
Friday: 12 p.m.-11 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m.-11 p.m.
Sunday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Skate rentals are also available at the rink.
Winter on the Waterfront: Baltimore’s Frosty Festival Lineup
The rink’s grand opening is just the start of the Winter on the Waterfront season—a months-long celebration of twinkly lights, cocoa, and the kind of cheerful chaos that makes you forget you still haven’t bought snow boots.
On December 6-7, the Light St. Pavilion will glow with a two-day Holiday Makers Market featuring some of Baltimore’s best homegrown makers and artists.
The same weekend, the city celebrates Baltimore’s Most Festive Weekend, complete with a lighted boat parade and Family Weekend at the Inner Harbor Christmas Village.
Planning to Skate
Whether you’re headed downtown for the rink’s opening or for a day or evening of skating anytime this season, you can make your trip as smooth as a freshly-Zamboni-ed rink by planning ahead.
One of the keys to an easy trip downtown is convenient parking. Harbor Park Garage, located at 55 Market Place, is an ideal spot to begin and end your trip to the Inner Harbor Rink. The garage is just steps away from the Inner Harbor – and is a reasonably priced option that’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Harbor Park is safe, clean, and well-lit, with friendly and helpful staff available around the clock to answer questions and provide any assistance you need.
The garage is easily accessible from major routes in and out of the city and – best of all – you can reserve your space ahead of time, so you won’t have to worry about circling the harbor to find a spot once you arrive.
