Fleet Week rolls – and sails and swoops – into Baltimore this October, taking over the Inner Harbor and other surrounding areas from October 3-9. The week is jam-packed with great events, from breathtaking air shows to educational ship tours to some entertaining performances from musical and theatric groups. While it’s worth checking out as many of the exhibitions and performances as possible, it might not be possible to check out absolutely everything. We’ve done some of the hard work, identifying a couple don’t-miss events: the Scott Francis aerobatic airshow and the US Navy Drill
Hard or soft, spicy or mild, chicken or steak…everyone loves tacos. On October 6, Baltimore will celebrate the fine food with the return of Baltimore Taco Fest, a massive festival dedicated to all things taco (and tequila…and nachos). She is the lead ship of the Zumwalt class and the first ship to be named for Admiral Elmo Zumwalt. Zumwalt has stealth capabilities, having a radar cross-section akin to a fishing boat despite her large size. On 7 December 2015, Zumwalt began her sea trial preparatory to joining the Pacific Fleet. She is to be homeported in San Diego, California. The ship will be commissioned
As election day nears and the news cycle continues to fill with dramatic stories, from suspicious Trump Foundation activity and Trump PTSD comments to Clinton WikiLeaks questions, it seems that even pop culture can’t save us from dreadful scenarios (case in point: Kim K. held at gunpoint). Mark your Calendars! The Maryland Department of Commerce and partners welcome the U.S. Navy Blue Angels to Maryland to announce their return to Baltimore, October 15-16, 2016. The air show will take place during the inaugural Maryland Fleet Week and Air Show Baltimore, a free 6-day festival celebrating the rich naval traditions of the Chesapeake Bay and the contributions of Marylanders to the defense of the nation. The Blue Angels, the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, will be based at Martin State Airport and will be performing in Baltimore for the third time during the Star-Spangled Air
