Before stepping into The Emporiyum, Baltimore area food lovers should brace themselves. The experience can be a little overwhelming – but in the best way. The annual foodie marketplace is located at 600 East Pratt Street, in the space formerly occupied by Best Buy. During the weekend of The Emporiyum, which takes places this year on April 1 and 2, the space feels enormous and it is packed, wall-to-wall, with incredible food. With about 100 different food vendors scattered throughout, it can be tough to decide where to look – and where to start. Smart attendees will map out a strategy – you might decideRead More →

Have you heard about Light City? Well if you haven’t. it’s a Baltimore-based event in the vein of Austin’s SXSW Conference – a hybrid event including art installations, music and arts performances and speaking sessions and panels focused on topics around innovation. Light City 2016 was the first event of its kind in the area; it was a smashing success, drawing about 400,000 visitors to downtown Baltimore. This year’s event, which takes place from March 31 to April 8, is expected to be just as popular. But art and innovation aren’t the only reasons to head to Light City: there will also be a seriousRead More →

Light city a festival of light music and innovation.

Last year, when the organizers of Light City announced their inaugural event, people in and around Baltimore weren’t quite sure what to expect. This year, when the city announced the return of the event, they knew what was coming: something spectacular. Dubbed “a festival of light, music and innovation,” Light City will return to Baltimore this year on March 31; events are planned through April 8. Like last year, 2017’s Light City will feature the work of dozens of light artists, musicians and other performers, from dance troupes to comedians. Several of last year’s most popular installations will return, including the multicolored peacock, which willRead More →

It’s nearly springtime in the mid-Atlantic, which means Marylanders’ thoughts turn to the return of the Baltimore Orioles, high school graduations and all things outdoors. This spring, locals and tourists have something else to celebrate: Light City. Billed as “a festival of light, music and innovation,” Light City will transform Baltimore, both visually and intellectually. The event begins March 28th and runs through April 3rd. Light City hopes to capture the creative spirit of Baltimore through art, music and talks that will stimulate more conversation than Donald Trump on the GOP debate stage. The event will feature a 1 ½ mile BGE Light Art WalkRead More →
