Thomas & Friends™: Explore the Rails! Exhibit

Last call! It’s the final week to climb aboard the Thomas & Friends(TM): Explore the Rails! exhibit. This train leaves the station May 7th!

On this STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) focused exhibit, children can climb aboard a kid-sized Thomas the Tank Engine™ , fix wobbly wheels, pull levers, dress as a train conductor and more. Don’t miss the huge train table where you can build train tracks and play with friends new and old!

Thank you to all those who serve! From May 1 through July 4, veterans and active military receive free admission to Port Discovery, and service members will receive $2.00 off general admission for their guests. Simply present a valid military ID or valid discharge papers to enjoy a day of fun and learning at Port Discovery!

Port Discovery Programs at Robinson’s Nature Center

Learn about animals and nature with playful, fun and free programming from Port Discovery at the Robinson Nature Center on May 7 and May 21! Using movement, games, science and interactive theater play, children three and up will explore our wild planet, creatures of the night and more! Programs are held at 1 & 2PM and are free with a Robinson pass or daily admission to the nature center.

Funding for these programs is provided by the Howard County Arts Council through a grant from the Howard County Government.


 

Discovery Days

Join Port Discovery for Discovery Days, featuring a fun-filled week of programs for children of all ages and capabilities!

Discovery Days activities include getting up close with wildlife at the Wildlife Adventures Petting Zoo on Tuesday, singing and dancing along with the Kindersinger, face painting with Landre SFX, an interactive science show from Eric Energy, and more hands-on activities!

The inclusive week kicks off on May 9 with PortAbility Autism Day followed by fun-filled events on May 10 and May 11 then concludes with Be a Part of the Arts Day on May 12!

Don’t miss out on this exciting week for children of all capabilities!


Littles’ Day

Gather the little ones and bring them to Port Discovery for a day designed especially for children 5 and younger! Enjoy face painting with Landre SFX, take part in our signature story time, and sing along with the Kindersinger! Then become a star in the limited-time only play The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper, performed with permission from Penguin Random House, where children help write and put on the show! Plus, take part in more family fun activities you won’t want to miss!

Enjoy Port Discovery for less! Receive more than $12 off the price of regular admission thanks to our generous sponsor, Target. Take part in family fun programs, including NASA’s Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) Altimeter exhibit where you can measure your height and learn how the ICESat-2 Mission will record important measurements from space! KLUTZ® Amazingly Immature! Exhibit

Stop acting silly? Not in this exhibit! Learn about science through laughter, play, physical comedy, and fun in the new KLUTZ® Amazingly Immature! exhibit.

Pull a tablecloth off a table without dropping dishes, turn spoons into catapults, create photo illusions, engineer fast-moving paper airplanes, learn how to juggle, transform money into wearable rings, and take part in over 18 interactive activities that combine science and silliness!

KLUTZ® Amazingly Immature! is based on the KLUTZ® Encyclopedia of Immaturity Vol. 1 and 2 and produced by the Children’s Museum of Houston in partnership with KLUTZ®.

Celebrate Memorial Day with interactive programs at Port Discovery all weekend long!

On Saturday, celebrate Asian Pacific Heritage Day with exciting programs where you can learn about pandas, cherry blossoms, star in the interactive Play within a Play: Tiger Tales, and more! On Sunday, May 28 enjoy our signature story time, learn about sound techniques in the Percussion Garden, and dance along to Jingle Jangle Music Time!

On Memorial Day, create a shrinky dink dog tag in honor of those who’ve served, learn about music in the Percussion Garden, and many more exciting programs to celebrate the holiday!
