All eyes have been on Washington this week, with Miss DC being crowned Miss USA just as the race for the White House narrows down to Hillary Clinton and her #IAmWithHer supporters and Donald Trump…and his Donald Trump hair.

But there’s also plenty of action a few miles to the north, in downtown Baltimore, with summertime events kicking off all over the city, including a new exhibit and a Family Beach Dance Party at Port Discovery and a fantastic Fourth of July Pier Party hosted by the National Aquarium.

At Port Discovery, expand your children’s worlds with Heart & Seoul: Growing Up in Korea. The exhibit, which runs from June 4 through September 5, allows kids to explore modern day Korea through the eyes of five Korean kids. It includes virtual visits to famous Korean sites, language, story and music lessons, an introduction to Korean animation and K-pop, instruction in Taekwondo and a look at traditional Korean foods, from kimchi to barbecue.

On June 25, head to Port Discovery for a beachy dance party that will be fun for the whole family. With tunes spun by DJ Holly, open play, a crabby craft and a hula hoop station, it’ll be a summertime party to remember. And on the way out be sure to stop by the newly opened TropQ Creamery and Café at 55 Market Street to taste some delicious in-store handcrafted ice cream.

And on the 4th of July, make your way to the National Aquarium’s pier party, starting at 6:30 p.m. the party features backyard BBQ fare, like burgers, brisket sliders and fresh fruit, music and entertainment – and a prime spot to watch the city’s always impressive fireworks. Be sure to buy tickets early; there’s no better spot for the fireworks, so they’ll sell quickly.

When you’re heading downtown, plan to park at the conveniently-located Harbor Park Garage (55 Market Place). It’s just a short walk to the museum and the Aquarium – and the helpful staff will point you in the right direction if you need guidance.

The garage is both convenient and reasonably-priced, especially for Aquarium-goers, who can take advantage of a special $15 Aquarium rate.

It’s a smart parking bet on June 25, July 4 or anytime, all summer long.
