Celebrate Innovation this Spring at Light City in Baltimore

Light City@Inner Harbor Baltimore MD

It’s nearly springtime in the mid-Atlantic, which means Marylanders’ thoughts turn to the return of the Baltimore Orioles, high school graduations and all things outdoors.

This spring, locals and tourists have something else to celebrate: Light City. Billed as “a festival of light, music and innovation,” Light City will transform Baltimore, both visually and intellectually. The event begins March 28th and runs through April 3rd.

Light City hopes to capture the creative spirit of Baltimore through art, music and talks that will stimulate more conversation than Donald Trump on the GOP debate stage.

The event will feature a 1 ½ mile BGE Light Art Walk including 50 attractions, with multimedia installations light in surprising and captivating ways. The artists behind the works are created by local, regional, national and international artists selected by a jury.

The festival will also feature dozens of musical performances, representing a wide variety of acts, from local favorite Dan Deacon to DJ Jazzy Jeff.

At the same time, Light City will foster innovation through Light City U conferences, during which thought leaders will explore and debate the question “How do we become a more responsible and equitable society?”

Even the food will be impressive; some of the city’s hottest restaurants have signed on as food vendors, including Remington favorite Parts & Labor and Harbor East powerhouses Wit & Wisdom, Ouzo Bay and Azumi.

It’s an ambitious project – big and challenging and visually exciting – and one that both locals and out of town visitors should not miss.

If you’re searching for convenient parking for the event, Harbor Park Garage has you covered. The garage, located  at 55 Market Place in downtown Baltimore. During Light City, Harbor Park has a great $15 all-day parking deal. Just visit the office on Level 2 of the garage for a discount validation ticket.

The garage is right in the thick of things – just about a five minute walk to the center of Light City. Which will put you at the center of some of the most exciting thinking, art and music the city has ever seen.
