Clarinda Harriss is a professor emerita of English at Towson University. Her work as publisher of BrickHouse Books, Inc., MD’s oldest literary press, has gone on for almost 50 years. Most of her published books are poetry-related; The White Rail is her first published collection of short fiction. She is completing a mixed-genre book, The Dementia Diary.

Ron Tanner’s awards for writing include a Faulkner Society gold medal, a Pushcart Prize, a New Letters Award, a Best of the Web Award, a Maryland Arts Council grant, and many others. He is the author of four books, most recently Missile Paradise, a novel. He teaches writing at Loyola University-Maryland and directs the Marshall Islands Story Project.

Fernando Quijano III (The Word Pimp) can’t be contained in 75 words or less. Alia Malek is an award-winning journalist and civil rights lawyer. She is the author of A Country Called Amreeka and editor of Patriot Acts and EUROPA. Her reporting has appeared in the New York Times, Foreign Policy, The Nation, Christian Science Monitor, and more.

Susan Muaddi Darraj is Associate Professor of English at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland, and a Lecturer in the Johns Hopkins University’s MA in Writing program. Her short story collection, A Curious Land: Stories from Home, was named the winner of the AWP Grace Paley Prize for Short Fiction, judged by Jaime Manrique, and published in December 2015. John Eisenberg, The Streak: Lou Gehrig, Cal Ripken, and Baseball’s Most Historic Record

John Eisenberg grew up with books in his hands – his first summer job was at his mother’s bookstore in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, he wrote for newspapers for almost three decades, mostly as a sports columnist at The Baltimore Sun covering major events such as the Super Bowl, Final Four, World Series, Kentucky Derby, and soccer’s World Cup while also paying attention to his hometown teams – the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, and Maryland Terrapins. CityLit Press celebrates the launch of author Rafael Alvarez’s new collection of fiction, Basilio Boullosa Stars in the Fountain of Highlandtown. The book commemorates the 20th anniversary of Alvarez’s fiction debut, The Fountain of Highlandtown, which was also published by CityLit Press’s Gregg Wilhelm.
